Strawberry fields forever

My friend and I took our little ones strawberry picking yesterday. The sun was beating down on us, I think it was the hottest day we have had yet. It was a bit of a drive and the kids were at there breaking point so we only picked until we I couldn't take it any longer, being pregnant its hard work bending over. I think Anne noticed, she suggested several times that we just buy some :P So in the end I got 6 pints of strawberries.I am happy :)

Now for the real mission...coming up with yummy things to make with them. The camera is still on the fritz, I am hoping to get it back in a couple of weeks. It had to be sent to the camera company. Since strawberries are in full swing here I thought I would share with you one of my favorite strawberry recipes.

I really am craving a frosty strawberry milkshake at the moment but we have no vanilla ice cream kick`n around. Maybe tomorrow.....

Some great advice for how to decorate with rugs via my consummate favorite... Anthropologie!

1. Use a rug to define areas within a large room, or to punctuate a foyer.
2. Working with small space? Light or pastel rugs make a room seen spacious, while deeper colors create a cozy feeling.
3. A large rug topped with furniture. This effect is more casual than a small rug surrounded by a formal furniture setup.
4. Patterned rugs are great for two reason: they help anchor your room's color scheme and visually unite a space, and they're slow to show wear-and-tear in high-traffic areas.
5. Try layering rugs. Just be sure to unify your choices with at least one common thread, like weave type or color palette.
6. Don't get stuck in a rectangle rut. Circular rugs create a sense of movement.
7. Size matters: hallway runners need to show some floor on all sides; dining room rugs should be large enough for chairs to be pulled from the table without catching an edge (and scuffing the floors).
8. Rugs aren't just for floors. They can be used as wall hangings to create the focal point of a room.

Welcome back everyone... such a long weekend and no vacation is in sight... I am hoping that a little palette cleansing will help recharge my creative juices. I have been so absorbed with color lately that my senses are on overload! I was so happy when I found these interiors filled with black, creams and soft browns. Although they are very different in style, there such calm about each space. They are not stark, rather, it is as if they want us to live in them, to laugh, relax and give thanks. When I get really tired or even blocked it is always good to remember that sometimes we don't have to work so hard to make things beautiful. Sometimes the beauty is in the simplicity.

'm new to the forum, in fact this is my first post here. I've been doing leatherworking for a short time now and I've become completely addicted to it as a hobby. It's amazing all of the things you start to realize that you can make for everyday use.

One of the things that has really really grabbed my interest lately is in making sandals and shoes. I haven't found a lot of information but the one book about sandals that I keep coming back to is the Sandal Making book available through Tandy. For shoes the book that I keep coming back to is from simpleshoemaking.com. I'm wondering if anyone else has any information they might like to share on making shoes and sandals. I'm not looking to make the next great leather dress shoe, what I'm looking for is simple designs that I can make and wear on a regular basis. During the summer I wear almost nothing but flip flops and so making sandals has really been something I've wanted to try here lately.

Does anyone know of any other ebooks or websites that have good information about sandal and shoe making? Or any online tutorials? I was thinking about making a fishermans sandal that I saw on simpleshoemaking.com but being a visual type person I'd liked to have seen more pictures of the finished sandal to get a better idea of what I'm supposed to end up with.
