{idea notebook} whites with everything

I am absolutely loving white right now... in moldings and casings and trim on walls, in upholstery (always) and rugs and draperies. I am loving the brilliant white of the Greek isles... especially mixed with blues, pinks and vibrant orange and the softer white of sandy shores. White looks fantastic with texture and pattern and pitch perfect with crisp, green fauna and tons of organic pottery. In my mind, nothing compares to how pure white can invigorate a space with simplicity, relaxed elegance and freshness. It is always just right, and I am so loving it!

{loving} decor that brings on nostalgia

Hello friends... another weekend has come and gone and a new week is upon us, and for some reason I am feeling a touch of nostalgia. Maybe it is the lingering end of summer and the thought of the sunsets fading away or maybe it is just a longing for decor that envelops me with a sense of history. Whatever it may be, I thought I would share some things I find truly beautiful... and what is old is always new and of course, I am always loving it. Have a wonderful week everyone!

{idea notebook} statement pieces

Welcome back to the week everyone! Lately I have been thinking about statement pieces in decor. Pieces that make you stop and pause before continuing on through a space. I love a play on proportion and scale. I love daringly grand objects that look undeniably dramatic. I love saturated color and unusual shapes. I love turning ordinary objects like light fixtures or chairs into wonderfully graphic elements or when color is so intense it becomes textural. I love when a statement is so un-traditional, but done just right, that it looks absolutely intended and amazingly perfect.

{colour} palettes with big personality

I am loving palettes with big personality and strong punches of color. Flourishes of electric yellow, turquoise, rich browns, splashes of red, bright fuchsias, purple and citric orange... bold color with dynamic sensibility and wonderful, artistic appeal. Color isn't necessarily about periods or styles- although certain colors might reference specific moments in time- rather, color is really about confidence, energy, and of course, drama. {loving} beautiful barn wood

Isn't there something exquisite about barn wood? It has such a wonderful integrity to it. Simple yet lovely in design. Bleached, whitewashed, stained in deep blue, chipping with age... I am loving it. Throw in lots of white linens, bits of gorgeous turquoise and flecks of golden color...this is what I dream about. Love it! Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

{inspiration} Pure and Simple

Welcome back everyone... such a long weekend and no vacation is in sight... I am hoping that a little palette cleansing will help recharge my creative juices. I have been so absorbed with color lately that my senses are on overload! I was so happy when I found these interiors filled with black, creams and soft browns. Although they are very different in style, there such calm about each space. They are not stark, rather, it is as if they want us to live in them, to laugh, relax and give thanks. When I get really tired or even blocked it is always good to remember that sometimes we don't have to work so hard to make things beautiful. Sometimes the beauty is in the simplicity.

{inspiring spaces} House of Casual Perfection

Sorry for the late start today... I have been obsessing with this gorgeous home... The color palette is so inviting; a modern approach to the seaside palette of navy and cream. I am loving all of the gray, cream and brown living in harmony with this stunning color. And those blue counter tops... This space is so many things but very simply put, it is perfection.
