Enhancing your entry is a fantastic way to create a welcoming and appealing home. Simple ideas such as adding decorative accents are not only pleasing updates but are easy to do yourself. Things I love using in entryways: two perfectly positioned sidelights flanking the front door, urns filled with seasonal plantings (*tip: if urns aren't your style, a well selected group of pots with varying heights will work as a great option), an overhead lantern if there are no sidelights, style appropriate house numbers (*tip: remember to coordinate your lockset, door knob and knocker finishes collectively), a fresh black, white or red door (or a custom wood door), a wreath that reflects your home's personality, molding around the sides and top of your doorway to make the door pop with architectural interest, a distinctive chair or bench with a pretty accent pillow, a beautiful welcome mat, stone pavers as a walkway rather than a concrete path, a simple row of flower pots lining your entry path (*tip: coordinate the color of the pots and plantings with your home's exterior), highlighting stairs with lanterns, topiaries or planters. The smallest touches can transform your home from ordinary to fantastic in just a small amount of time!
