Hi everyone! I am so loving this idea! I think it is such a fun and inventive way to display art and images that inspire you. All you need are some wooden pant hangers and you can create your very own, rotating art gallery. Magazine tears, postcards and book-eared pages anyone?! Personally, I am loving this as a showcase moment for the masterpieces of my children. What could be more beautiful than that? In my mind, nothing... Have a wonderful weekend! xo

Date & orange muffin
When you are pregnant sometimes you feel the urge to clean your home and change it up. "Nesting" as its referred to. I have felt it :) I put the baby crib up for the 3rd time! Yes I have had the same crib for 14 years! Insane...I know.
It is fun putting the baby clothes away. We didn't find out the gender of the baby. I like the surprise. I have one drawer of girl clothes and one drawer of boy clothes, most of which came from the thrift store and some gifts. I also purchased two rag quilts from Etsy, since Leeluu will be sharing her room I thought it would be a special something that they can both have. It is hard to believe that I only have a little under 11 weeks left!
I felt muffinish this morning so I made these, adapted from the joyofbaking.com. The sugar from the dates is sweet so feel free to cut down on the sugar. I will next time only use 1/4 cup. :)
Date & orange muffins 2 cups flour 1/4 cup rolled oats 1 tsp baking soda 1/2 cup cane sugar 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon 1 tbsp grated orange zest 1/3 cup fresh orange juice 1 cup soy milk/ mixed with 1 tsp apple cider vinegar 1 egg replace 1/2 tsp almond extract 1/4 cup sunflower oil 1 cup chopped dates pumpkins seeds (optional) Preheat oven to 350- grease a muffin tin Mix dry ingredients together. In a separate bowl mix wet. Pour wet into dry. Mix until combined. Sprinkle with pumpkin seeds Scoop batter into tins, bake for 20 minutes or until done. |
{loving} Corsage Vases
Right now I am obsessing over these bud vases from Anthropologie. They remind me of the days when girls wore circle skirts with pretty organza ruffles and pinned corsages of flowers to their cap-sleeved bodices. Yet don't let their sweetness fool you, these vases are very much of modern times, with a gorgeous color palette full of sophistication and dare I say, sexiness. I love them as a collection but think they would be perfectly lovely standing alone. Have a happy week everyone!
{inspiration+palettes} as Delectable as Summertime
I love summertime and I am so inspired by all of the wonderful flavors and scents that come alive during these months. Finding the perfect color is as simple as eating a cup of icy-cool, mint chip ice cream after a mid-day swim or feasting on the rich reds and supple oranges of fresh, tomato salsa... summer palettes are full, they are fresh and oh so terribly yummy. Love it! (and now I am officially hungry!) Welcome back to the week everyone!

I love the beach
We woke up early this morning greeted by the sun and decided to get a head start on the day and go to the beach (you really have to take advantage of sunny days here). The beach we choose was, Martinique. Many times we talked about checking it out, but never did. I didn't know what we were missing until we got there!!
When we got out of the car and walked through the sea grass boardwalk...I was in awe. It felt like we were in paradise....the longest white sandy beach in Nova Scotia, KILLER! Here is a little video of Leeluu :)
Hope everyone got some sunshine this weekend :)
P.S. What do you think of my new blog header/layout?
{loving} beautiful barn wood
Isn't there something exquisite about barn wood? It has such a wonderful integrity to it. Simple yet lovely in design. Bleached, whitewashed, stained in deep blue, chipping with age... I am loving it. Throw in lots of white linens, bits of gorgeous turquoise and flecks of golden color...this is what I dream about. Love it! Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Summer time
We went to New Brunswick last week, Jonathan went for business and we just tagged along for the hotel, pool and food. I feel like I have been neglecting my blog because of the camera situation, its just not same without one :(
We did the tour of Moncton, Saint John, and Fredericton. New Brunswick is really rural, mostly trees the drive is pleasant. During the week Leeluu and I did the tourist thing, we went to community water parks, hotel pools, we visited the Saint John farmers market and thrift stores.
Saint John City Farmers Market (early morning)
Moncton Centennial Park
On the weekend we booked a few nights at a bed and breakfast, but it was not your typical B&B. We stayed at lovely spot just outside of the Bay of Fundy National Park, An Artists Garden. Everything about this place was special, and I could tell that a lot of love went it to the design and building of it. It was really nice that there was a kitchen in our room, and a claw foot tub. Check out this awesome retro oven!
Karin the owner, let Leeluu play in the room next to ours when it was empty, there was a secret hide out in the loft. Of course Leeluu loved it. We went into the town of Alma and ate at the Octopus Garden, the soup was delicious as was the homemade strawberry lemonade. We visited Cape Enrage and got a tour of a 150 year old light house. It cleared up that night so we had a windy beach fire.

The next day we headed for home, not without a stop at the water slides though :) I hope everyone is having a great start to the summer!
{inspiration} pretty without really trying...
Some spaces simply don't have to try too hard to be fabulous... some rooms just are without much effort at all. I am loving these wonderful rooms that do just that. They look as if they just happen to be pretty great. I love their gloriously unexpected color palettes. Reds and pinks and yellows and greens and that great turquoise side cabinet... ah, to die! I love the mid-century furniture, known for it's masculine appeal, upholstered unapologetically in bright, feminine florals and prints. I love how all of the wonderfully saturated colors are juxtaposed with raw woods, tile flooring and woven accessories. I love the unfinished walls and faded wallpaper decorated with seemingly random collections. I love how nothing is overtly new but still translates a modern freshness and effortless appeal. I simply love it all! Have a wonderful week everyone!

Chameleon
The couple and their adult daughter saw its house completely differently. Parents love neoclassical ethnic, and a daughter - a fan of the Rococo.
Living room, kitchen, bathroom - a "cocktail" of styles, which became the basis of neoclassical, as expressed in the forms and structures and amended parts of East and Bali.
Materials and textures are so diverse that they change the energy of interior, opening for each facet of particular perceptions and attitudes.
Lightness, elegance and luxury used to reflect an abundance of fabulous rococo. Especially the bedroom is organic. The romantic four-poster bed creates a sophisticated atmosphere of love and pleasure.
Pastel colors and ornate pattern on the wallpaper give a modern interior aristocratic look.

{product+love+bedding} Bits of Bright and White
Right now I am loving CASTLE, a wonderful Australian company that produces fabulous, crisp- white bedlinens with little bits of bright color... as well as cheery, hand-sewn artwork, garlands and cushions. (Yes, I have officially overcome my color overload and am back, fully embracing all that is bright and happy.) Think cheery spots and flower designs in yellow, gray, orange, pink and electric blue; hand cut lettering; and layers of colorful discs floating through the air. Yeah! I love how their simple use of lovely, plain white makes colorful button details, pillows or strands of garlands pop with joyful graphic delight and whimsy! It's so clean, airy and fresh as summertime. Love it!
