Quilts, food and beach sessions

Hey everybody! Hope everyone had a nice weekend.
When I picked up my mail this morning, I was happy to find that the package that I have been waiting for had arrived! I ordered two adorable quilts on Etsy from Crooked Barn Vintage's store. One for Leeluu (pink) and one for the new baby (blue). They are made wonderfully and look absolutely beautiful in their room!

I feel totally different with this pregnancy; I'm uncomfortable most of the time and I'm not as big as I have been in the past. Maybe it is the vegan diet, or maybe it has something to do with the gender of the baby! I read a bunch of old wive's tales about gender prediction hoping I may might find some clarification as to why I feel differently then when I was pregnant with my two girls... Although wive's tales aren't very credible, I do like trying to pretend I know what I am going to have!

Last week I made mostly simple dinners; breakfast burritos, roasted vegetable focaccia pizza, carrot soup with quinoa salad, seitan casserole and Mexican-style rice and beans.

Do you plan our your meals for the week, or just make whatever you can find in the fridge?

This is my belly shot at thirty one weeks. I have been going to the beach almost everyday! When Leeluu wakes up in the morning, she peeks out the window and gives me the weather report and then asks " can we go to the beach?" I think I have a little beach bum on my hands!

A simple, special, extraordinary moment.
A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

Cloth

Cloth Diapering you may say
Is too much for your busy day
But let me tell you why you're wrong
I promise you this won't take long
Did you know there are chemicals
Hiding out in your disposables
Besides who wants to use all that plastic
all that garbage makes me spastic
And cloth is not as gross as you may think
I rarely even have a stink
All you need is a wet bag
and all that mess is not a drag
But 'sposies are easy you make utter
Cloth is too!- did I stutter?
I can diaper in a park
I can diaper in the dark
I can diaper in the car
I can diaper when afar
I can diaper here or there
I can diaper anywhere!
So take those 'sposies, throw them out
Cloth is easy when your about!
Thus my poem comes to an end
Hope you still want to be my friend.

27

27 is my favorite campsite at Rissers Provincial Park. We went there this weekend with some friends, our last camping session of the summer. It was gorgeous and we spent time at the beach and around the fire. I was able to sneak away in the morning before everyone woke up. Caught the sunrise, sitting on the rocks listening to the waves crash, seriously is the best way to wake up!  Here are some of the moments I captured that were my favorite. Hope everyone else had a beautiful weekend too!

Puddle jumping and blackberry picking!

It was a rainy morning here, after lunch we decided to put our boots on and go puddle jumping! There is a trail behind our home that we often go for walks on. I love going outside after it rains, everything smells good and feels fresh.

and the splash!
Today was especially fun because we discovered blackberry bushes all over the place! At first we picked a handful, and realized we needed to go back home and get a basket. I think I am going to make a crumble for dessert tonight..that is if she doesn't eat them all first.

Summer time

We went to New Brunswick last week, Jonathan went for business and we just tagged along for the hotel, pool and food.  I feel like I have been neglecting my blog because of the camera situation, its just not same without one :(

We did the tour of Moncton, Saint John, and Fredericton. New Brunswick is really rural, mostly trees the drive is pleasant. During the week Leeluu and I did the tourist thing, we went to community water parks, hotel pools, we visited the Saint John farmers market and  thrift stores.

Saint John City Farmers Market (early morning)

Moncton Centennial  Park

On the weekend we booked a few nights at a bed and breakfast, but it was not your typical B&B. We stayed at lovely spot just outside of the Bay of Fundy National Park, An Artists Garden. Everything about this place was special, and I could tell that a lot of love went it to the design and building of it. It was really nice that there was a kitchen in our room, and a claw foot tub. Check out this awesome retro oven!

Karin the owner, let Leeluu play in the room next to ours when it was empty, there was a secret hide out in the loft. Of course Leeluu loved it.  We went into the town of Alma and ate at the Octopus Garden, the soup was delicious as was the homemade strawberry lemonade. We visited Cape Enrage and got a tour of a 150 year old light house. It cleared up that night so we had a windy beach fire.

The next day we headed for home, not without a stop at the water slides though :) I hope everyone is having a great start to the summer!

Bathroom blog

This is a picture of the closet downstairs. We only had one bathroom in the house and decided to turn this closet into a powder room. I know that this is not Kirsten's Bathroom blog but I thought I would share with you the progress that we are making in our new home.

We have lived in the house for 10 months and did some serious renovations. I would have to say its not easy on a relationship to dismantle your home and rebuild it, but we are doing it room by room.

Since my mom and dad were coming for a visit I thought I would take advantage of my dad's handyman skills and put him to work. I say goodbye to my parents today :( Thanks dad for all your help, you will be missed!

Easter Weekend Fun

Lots of family time was spent together the last few days. I am so thankful for holidays and long weekends :)  I really struggled with the egg hunt part. It's difficult to find vegan chocolate in my neck of the woods, so I opted for dried fruit and nuts. I wanted to allow Leeluu to participate in the hunt, because its fun!

Their dad bought them a really cool bubble blower wand that blows HUMONGOUS bubbles. It was pretty early in the morning but they insisted on try it out. It was cool and a lot of fun.

Here are the goodies that Leeluu scored on her egg hunt! She was proud of herself :)

We wanted a fire pit in the yard to burn old fallen down trees and branches...so we built one! It was our first outdoor fire this year, and we sat outside until it got dark. It was a really nice night, you could here the frogs :)

chill'n in the chair at the fire

We went to our favorite beach. It is a bit of a drive but SO worth it.  There is practically nobody on it!

She was determined to slide down the dunes.

Finally a picture of me being silly, since I am always the one behind the camera. I am 15 weeks along in my pregnancy, and I am feeling pretty good!  No  recipes this weekend, just having fun outside with family.
Hope everyone had a lovely weekend.
