{inspiration + summer palette}
What a glorious, long, holiday weekend... and at long last, the un-official start to summer! I, for one, am so happy to have the longer days and humid nights... spaces bursting with vibrant sounds and delicious colors. A tactile season with a palette of melting sorbets, saturated blues, cool, icy whites... bits of warm, metallic shimmer & pops of grassy rattan. As always, I am loving the spectrum of corals, melons and honeysuckle paired with creamy whites and turquoise galore. It is endlessly fabulous, preppy or exotic, chic and always relevant without trying too hard. I could live forever in summer. It is relaxed and worn-in, fresh with a casual ease. Ah, yes, welcome back!

Half way there!
Half way there to meeting the new member of our family, it is exciting and scary. I know that I have done it twice before but each time was different, as it should be. I have a doula this time around which I am quite happy about. Only 20 weeks left!
I haven't been blogging very much, the camera is still broken, and its just not as much fun when you can't take pictures :(
This week I planted 2 tomato plants in pots along with lettuce and herbs. It just seems like I would be feeding all the creatures of the forest if I was to plant the veggie garden in the yard. So right now it is over run with dandelions. I did plant the rhubarb that I traded a cinnamon bun for at the market. I have been told that deers don't eat it, so far so good.
My mom and dad are visiting me for 2 weeks, they get here in a two days!! I have not seen my mom in a year, I wish they would move here and I keep trying to convince them, but that would be a HUGE move, across Canada. Mom said maybe in a couple years....fingers crossed.
I made a really yummy poppyseed loaf the other day and wanted to share the recipe. Sorry no pictures, but trust me its GOOD!

{inspiration+holiday weekend} Welcome to Summer
And at long last... hello summer!!! Foaming seas, warm sun, fresh cut grass, the taste of salt in the wind, cotton candy, shiny red balloons, outdoor living under a clear blue sky. The pickets stand taller now, trees are blooming everywhere and bicycles start to line the market streets. Summer is in the colors and senses. It sparkles with bright whites, royal blues, flourishes of hot coral and earthen olive. Bursts of sunshine yellow and classic red are always just right too. Ah.... have a wonderful holiday everyone and welcome to summer!

{idea notebook} Ragtag Curtains
Ragtag curtains, handkerchief panels, sheer, plain fabric with little grommet corners... I am loving this idea right now, especially as we head into the glorious days of summer. Think of them as soft, simple gestures that will blow to and fro with the warm, gentle winds.
(Examples above use: Sunbrella panels with grommeted corners & small cup hooks to hold them in position and cotton voile cafe curtains hung with clip rings on a tension rod for perfect placements. Old tablecloths would work quite nicely too. So pretty and simplified!)

{inspiration+colour} Redcurrant Meets Blue
Although I am not a huge lover of red, I am adoring Redcurrant. It is so vibrant & luscious... fresh and interestingly, graphic. A comprise of fruity cherry and tomato tones that can span the spectrum into crimson, poppy and scarlet shades, Redcurrant breathes heat and life into any interior. ... when paired with it's color opposite, the popular and peaceful blue, the collaboration creates a beautiful and striking harmony where the colors seem to sparkle & dance off of one another. (In the images above I love how red feels very modern, like pop art, and how the turquoise translates balance & calm as a brilliant accent color. Together the combination is cheeky but grown up, sophisticated and cool, at the same time!) Have a wonderful week everyone!
