{inspiration} orange love

Welcome back to the week everyone. I am filled with the rush of fall. Her chilly breath against my face, crisp leaves scattered over the fading grass. Pumpkins bursting in spicy orange filling the house with fragrant delight. I am loving orange almost everywhere. She is rich and full bodied, grounding a room with the perfect saturation of warm, beautiful color. I am loving orange paired with bits of texture and metallic up against tailored whites and deep, dusty charcoal. So very modern and terribly fabulous. I am simply loving orange...

{inspiration} Beautifully Neutral

There simply is not anything neutral about these interiors. Oatmeal, iron, linen, gray, metallic finishes, beige, browns and ivory- all become beautiful color when balanced with a variety of finishes, chic patinas, modern lines, classic flourishes and unfinished edges. Magnificent.

{products+love} Sweet Ruffles

I can't think of a better way to usher in the beautiful weekend than by featuring what I think is the absolute prettiest bedding I have ever seen. Unabashedly feminine and fantastically lush, these duvets  simply tumble into perfection. So here's to two wonderful days of snuggling up well past your usual waking hour.

{idea notebook} White

Ah.... we all know that I love white. White rooms, white furniture, white tablescapes, white flowers, white linens, white, white, white. So, today I thought that it would be fitting to pay homage to this love.

To me white is blissfully romantic layered and folded onto itself. That is my kind of white; White where shades mix together to create fullness of body and warmth within a space. But white can also be graphic and stark, preppy and clean. There are endless possibilities, timeless possibilities. Above I have featured images that inspire my work and products I love to use within it. I think they are just perfect.
Enjoy!

{inspiration} 860 Square Feet

In my recent expeditions I fell in love with a wonderful two-bedroom condominium designed by Wayne McGill and Chad Farquharson. Located in ultra cool, downtown-Vancouver this tiny, 860 square foot gem conjures up dramatic achievement with a grand sense of scale and style. By using a mix of old and new, and a lot of reflective surfaces and transparent pieces such as lucite and glass, the duo has created a home that flows openly together and looks as if it has been collected over a lifetime. I love their quote in Small Room Decorating "We make some things invisible and others we mirror. With things that are not clear, we're as brave as we can be."
The space is sophisticated, inventive and perfectly quirky. From the color palette of pistachio green and blush pink to the antler head hanging above two, perfectly appointed, mercury glass lamps the condo out thinks convention. Notice how bold stripes sweep through the narrow hallway (with it's own custom designed display ledge) adding drama and movement. And how the master bedroom uses an enlarged, yet elegant, linen headboard to offset the room's small scale. I especially love the chalkboard painted wall featuring a quote from Dolly Parton "You'll never do a whole lot unless you're brave enough to try."
Nicely put!

Go Ahead & Dwell

Lately I am feeling the need to wrap myself in swaths of gorgeous fabric. My current favorite remedy does not come with zippers or buttons, rather it comes in fitted and flat.

DwellStudio was born as Dwell Home Furnishings, in 1999. A textile company that offers vibrant, adventurous and modern textile designs; encompassing everything from bedding to tabletop to baby and kids accessories. Through their sophisticated use of color, print and pattern they push aesthetic boundaries to a place other companies might shy away from. It is this willingness to dare that makes them special and wonderfully unique in the home market.
