{idea notebook+moldings} Accentuate Your Possitives

Accentuate your room's positives by drawing attention to interesting moldings or architectural details with crisp, bold color. Or create architecture (and a bit of drama) by introducing molding to walls and doors. Love it!

{inspiration} A Preppy Touch

I like Preppy. It's crisp, it's happy, it's fresh, it's easy-breezy... like white, cable knit or the perfect shift dress. I like checks, seersucker, geometric prints, argyle, stripes & ikats in Palm Beach hues. I like it's classic look and timeless style. Try pairing preppy with modern forms and it is even chic. Orange and white, green and pink, blue and bursting berries... take it from me, Gidget has officially grown up.
Preppy is back.

Simple sides : sauteed asparagus with garlic and pine nuts

Its been a productive weekend, I managed to finally get the first coat of paint on in the kitchen before the cabinets get here, we went to the beach and I made lasagna ( which last for 2 dinners!)

The first night I made a caesar salad. Tonight I wanted to switch it up...made a simple side of asparagus sauteed in a little olive oil, with thinly sliced garlic and sprinkled with pine nuts. Finished with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar and there you have it a simple side dish.

Asparagus season is upon us...stay tuned for more yummy recipes!

Art-nuvo

The house forever – it is practical and it is functional. Light tone, stained-glass windows, modern interpretation of a modernist style.

The smart zone is sustained and makes impression about all house: stained-glass windows, mirrors, warm colors, furnish of walls and a figure on ceilings, the tile calculation on a floor have set spirit of an interior.

Direct and smooth lines, stained-glass windows, bright illumination and mirror tension ceilings, warm sand scale, satiny sofa – all it accents a smart zone.

On kitchen the refined French spirit reigns: white kitchen and pistachio walls.

Guest and bedrooms also are executed in style of an art-nuvo.

Classical office in a tree with a ceiling.

Bathrooms as if continuation of rooms, support idea of inhabited space.

The bedroom of owners is issued in the easy classics, the niche behind a bed with illumination and frescos became accent.

{this is glamorous}: {farewell elizabeth taylor}

I loved this tribute from {this is glamorous} and thought you might too... & although it is not about interiors Elizabeth Taylor's radiant Hollywood glamour was so pitch perfect it could instantly transform a space. I fell in love with her as Maggie the Cat... audacious, daring, womanly and absolutely beautiful. She is and always will be an inspiration and utterly... fabulous.

{idea notebook+furniture transformations} Decoupage Chairs

I love using the traditional technique of decoupaging to transform old furniture. It's funky and fresh and completely inexpensive! Try using newspapers and maps for their incredible graphic images or vintage wallpaper for their amazing patterns and color. Just Fabulous!

Step 1:
Sand wood until smooth and clean surface carefully.

Step 2:
Using a glue that will dry clear, apply a thin layer of adhesive to both sides of your paper strips and the surface that you will be applying to. Press clippings flat onto the chair, beginning at the center and working your way out, squeezing out any excess with cloth and popcicle stick. Remove any wrinkles in the paper. Wait 3-5 minutes and repeat this step all over the chair creating your desired pattern.

Step 3:
Wait another 3-5 minutes until the glue begins to set. Prepare a mixture of 3 parts glue to one part water. Brush on a thin coat of this mixture and allow it to dry thoroughly. Continue to add coats of diluted glue until you achieve the desired effect. Remember to let each coat dry completely before adding another coat of glue.

Step 4:
Once glue sets, apply a coat of gloss enamel, varnish or polyurethane over the chair and allow to dry. Apply enough coats to completely cover the surface and smooth all of the edges.

(Materials: Wooden Chair(s), Sandpaper, Wallpaper or decorative paper, Clear-drying adhesive, Clean dry cloth, Ice-cream stick, Scissors, Clear polyurerathane varnish such as Wattyl Estapol Satin)

Slow cooked beans

We love our beans in this family, and these are probably the favorite. Classic, simple and tasty, the kids could eat the whole pot :) The only thing you need to do is soak them the night before and leave the rest for the slow cooker!

5 cups white navy beans- soaked in water overnight
6 cups water
1 can tomato paste
1/2 onion-minced
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp mustard powder
1 tsp molasses
1 1/2 tsp apple cider vinegar
1 tsp vegan Worcestershire sauce
2 1/2 tsp sea salt
freshly ground pepper

Add everything to a slow cooker except the salt- cook on high for 4-6 hours.
Season with salt once the beans are soft.
Enjoy!

Growth

It is spring and the weather is warming up! Over the weekend I spent some time in the garden, weeding and cleaning up. The kids loves being outdoors and so do I. With everything going on in the world right now, I feel very fortunate to spend time outside with my family.

I have plans for a veggie patch this year (last years was a major fail), I am hoping to find out what deers don't like and growing that! Also I have hopes to plant a fruit tree or two in the yard, and start my own compost:)

Cooking is by the wayside right now, still waiting on our kitchen. Should be here in a week or two at the most. I am looking forward to trying some new recipes and doing some food posts:p

HAPPY SPRING!

{inspiration} Red, White and Oh So Brilliant Blue

Alas Monday is here again... feeling fresh and classic, like crisp navy and white on a sunshiny day. I particularly love mixing this pairing with stripes, creamy details, soft linens and accents of jute; it softens the atmosphere and creates an warm, inviting space. (Remember Diane Keaton's beach home in "Something's Gotta Give"... love it!) Or, if you are feeling a bit adventurous, try adding some bold, geometric prints (like ikat, chevron & peacock feather), touches of red or bright yellow and metal accents for a hip, modern twist on this great classic...
Always happy and forever appealing. Have a happy week everyone!

Aristocrat

The general stylistic outline of the house is created by an interlacing of original and bright styles in a single whole.

Leitmotif the present which softly adjoins to unostentatious classics and the country in rest zones sounds.

Color scale light and positive, creating pleasant house aura in an interior.

Any contrasts, they are competently used only in rooms and zones where are pertinent: an office, library and a billiard room.

In floors there is an accurate zoning that is dictated by present canons.

However each of composite components on a floor is grouped logically and elaborately.

Ground floor – a zone of a wine cellar and a tasting room with all necessary attributes.

The ground floor – a drawing room, home theater, a billiard room, two guest with the bathrooms, pool.

The second floor – an office, a bedroom with wardrobe and a bathroom, children's rooms.

The third floor of knowledge and creativity – library and a workshop at a nursery.

The main premise in the house – volume spacious studio which atmosphere easily adjusts on goodwill and freedom.

The dining room, despite the big space as if it is shrouded from different directions by the refined lace of a ladder smithery and flickers in a fantastic chain of fires of chandelier FAUSTIG.

The present massive fireplace from marble of rare breed and the zone of sofas and TV viewing are in fall.
