{idea notebook} Old Havana

I have always loved to sprinkle rooms with decor that is aged... I love green patinas, distressed woods, chipping metals and found objects. For me they bring depth and a bit of tradition into a space. I am loving the faded greens, grays and weathered whites of this Old Havana streetscape. It instantly recalls an era where the days moved slowly, the nights were hot and beauty was unabashedly feminine... The perfect inspiration, and palette, for a timeless room.

{inspiration+colour} Thinking Green

Maybe it is all of the white covering the ground and knowing what lies underneath but I have been inspired by green lately. To me green symbolizes growth, nature, pureness, harmony, peacefulness... It can be calming in sage, celery and chameleon; rich in moss, olive and forest; or sparkling in jade, lime and celadon. It is wonderful layered and paired as a secondary color. I love mixing it with bright white and navy blue or pairing it with rubies, yellows and deep browns. It is the perfect harmony, nature's symphony, a sweeping field of grass, a sum of all it's parts, not just a single shade. ... happy week everyone!
