{inspiration} a fond farewell to summer decor

I am kicking off a week long homage to the magical, and quickly fading, days of summer... today's pick is classic English-style meets the American Hamptons. I love the uniformed palette of blue(french, navy, soft pale blue) and white (a classic summer pairing), teak wood & crisp porcelain, navy pebble stone with white grout (so darling), pops of modern prints in the draperies and my undying favorite, the timeless, white-twill sofa. I hope your holiday was fabulous! We will miss you my summer friend...

{inspiration} Red, White and Oh So Brilliant Blue

Alas Monday is here again... feeling fresh and classic, like crisp navy and white on a sunshiny day. I particularly love mixing this pairing with stripes, creamy details, soft linens and accents of jute; it softens the atmosphere and creates an warm, inviting space. (Remember Diane Keaton's beach home in "Something's Gotta Give"... love it!) Or, if you are feeling a bit adventurous, try adding some bold, geometric prints (like ikat, chevron & peacock feather), touches of red or bright yellow and metal accents for a hip, modern twist on this great classic...
